Appreciation for My Illustrator sister.
Maggie's artistic talent started when she was young. When we were in kindergarten, there was a school wide contest for the kids, for the best art to be put on the school directory cover. Maggie won it.
It's been clear since we were young that Maggie had artistic talent and passion.
We both loved drawing as kids, but Maggie's talent carried on into adulthood.
Painting is something Maggie loves to do for fun. Over the years I have seen her art and her talent. After writing the children's book, she was the one God put on my heart to ask to do the art.
Maggie had put in many hours of work on the first three spreads that we have done up to this point.
She never complains about anything. She happily makes changes to the art if I request it, and checks to see if everything looks how I want it to look.
For a while, we had talked about it being my project that she was helping me out with. But over time, Maggie has started to feel like it is her project too, which is so great in my eyes.
We have talked about the book being like its own little thing, being "alive".
I appreciate my sister so much, and working with her has brought our relationship closer than it's ever been.
I can't wait to see how our book will help others and I'm excited to hear feedback from future readers once the whole book is finished. I hope the book changes people's lives, in some way.
Thank you Maggie for all your hard work and being an amazing twin! I love you and am excited to see where the future leads us.
Maybe we'll make even more books are in the future!
